The Rain In Spain Falls Mainly On The Plain....(Day 10)
and on my semi-water resistant pants and results in wet crotch and legs (possibly my rap name if I ever take my crazy free style skillz to the club circuit). The rain and wind arrived today and it made for kind of a shit day. The first half wasn’t too bad and my jacket and pack cover worked exceptionally well. The pants soaked through but I was getting blasted by water so it only makes sense. Most of the walk was in rain and nearly all of it was in this logic defying head wind. No matter which direction I was heading the wind seemed to be in my face.
The pressure change was wreaking havoc on my sinuses so my equilibrium was a little off as well. Not fun. Basically, today was the exact opposite of yesterday and I have a feeling that is how a journey like this goes. I eventually made it to the town I needed to and am now looking forward to a home cooked meal at the place I am staying. I got to speak with Michele and that meant the world. Then there will be stretching and some much needed sleep. Tomorrow is a long day (29km) and I fear it will be full of rain again. Oh well. I will throw on the jacket, put my head down and trudge forward towards Santiago. Regardless of how hard the day was, I’m still 14.7 miles closer to Santiago then I was when I started. And today that’s enough.
